Awkward Giraffe is established to be a charity whose purpose is to advance culture by:

.1) Funding the public performance of works of critical, political, social and philosophical comedy by emerging Australian comedians.

2) Funding workshops so that emerging Australian comedians are able to share their knowledge of critical, political, social and philosophical comedy with the community.

3) Funding the recording of the history of critical, political, social and philosophical comedy in Australia.

4) Advocating for free expression

5) Supporting critical, political, social and philosophical comedy and

6) Comedy that challenges the status quo in Australia with respect to issues of:
a) Freedom of speech and expression
b) Censorship and political speech
c) The culture of comedy
d) Satirical subject matter
e) Content that has the capacity to cause offence
f) Content that has the capacity to be divisive g) Content that subverts the dominant paradigm h) Controversial subject matter
